Flu Stats...

In the United States, on average 5% to 20% of the population gets the flu every year and about 36,000 people die from complications.

As I wrote early, it is estimated that 60% of people will get the H1N1 virus THIS season! This is a drastic jump !! I tried to find the number of deaths so far this season but couldn't. All the stats were from September. Please make sure you are taking precautions to avoid this virus!

This awareness has certainly changed some of our habits! We now have sanitizer bottles everywhere! We sanitize after leaving a public place and we wash our hands every time we walk in our house door! This week during church I got a chuckle, after the "Greeting time" I heard several people opening up their sanitizer bottles! One can never be too safe. Remember Grocery carts have more bacteria then public toilets!! I carry a mini bottle of Lysol in my purse but I am too impatient to spray the cart and wait for it to dry, so I sanitize instead. We all Listerine at least twice a day!

I also read today that some of the worst and mostly deadly cases of H1N1 are for those who smoke. H1N1 quickly leads to pneumonia! If you are a smoker, maybe now is a good time to make some changes!

Brian thinks I am paranoid about H1N1 but I consider myself just cautious. If I can help prevent our family from getting sick, I WILL!!

Stay healthy loved ones!

I keep sanitizing wipes in my purse for wiping off grocery carts too. I also use them to open the doors in the restroom if I need to use a public bathroom.

We also do the same thing. As soon as we come home, we wash our hands...especially when the kids come home from school.
